The Hampton Court Half 2018 will be directly raising money for associated charities, although many runners also fundraise personally for charities of their choice.
Being told your child has cancer or another life-limiting condition is devastating. Day-to-day life is turned upside down. Momentum supports the entire family during times of unimaginable strain – the children and their parents, and also siblings and grandparents. We’re here to make sure no family has to cope alone
We currently work in partnership with 3 local hospitals in Surrey and SW London – Kingston, Epsom and St Peter’s – supporting over 150 families at any one time.
Momentum is proud to be a partner charity at the Hampton Court Half Marathon on Sunday February 18th.
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) helps babies, children and their families affected by retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of eye cancer. Around one child a week is diagnosed in the UK and early diagnosis is vital to save their eyes, sight and life.
CHECT is the only UK charity solely supporting families affected by retinoblastoma. We also raise awareness to drive early diagnosis and fund research into prevention and treatment. We don’t receive any government funding and rely solely on donations to pay for our work.
Being told that your little one has cancer is a distressing and frightening time, and we are there to help. Last year, with the public’s generous support, we were able to offer support to 100% of families following a diagnosis and provide ongoing support throughout their retinoblastoma journey.
We are very excited to be part of the Hampton Court Half Marathon 2018 – as a small charity, every person who runs for Team CHECT makes a big difference. Each runner will receive a fundraising pack, running vest and enthusiastic support on route from the CHECT cheer squad! Call Diane on 020 7377 5578 or email email@example.com to join our team. Thank you!
In 2016 a total of almost £9000 was raised for charity. This sum was made up from a donation of 5% of all runner entry fees plus individual runner donations. The sum was split amongst various charities including, The Royal Star and Garter, Esher College Africa Trust, Princess Alice Hospice, Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, plus other local community groups. In addition to this many runners were also fundraising personally for charities of their choice.
