TRAVEL

The Original Hampton Court Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 19th February, 08:30 am. It is important that you plan your journey in advance of the race to  ensure you arrive in time for the start. Most of you will have received a race number in advance and we recommend that you travel in running gear with the number already pinned to the front of your running top. You will be able to drop a bag with any additional kit that you don’t need to our Baggage marquee, so that you can be ready to run fairly promptly on arrival.

As the race is a wave start, if you are delayed and arrive late, you will be able to start in a later wave up to 08:50am.

Please see below various options for travel.

In addition to our official and designated public car parks, there are a number of local roads which are free of parking restrictions or where restrictions do not apply on Sunday. Drivers are asked to bear the following in mind if parking on roads.

  • Please DO NOT park anywhere on the race route as this will cause problems for everyone. Roads in the Thames Ditton area which must be avoided are:
    • Giggs Hill Road (on either sider of the Green
    • Portsmouth Road
    • Watts Road
    • Station Road
    • Embercourt Road (between the junction with Station Road and Hampton Court Way)
    • Weston Green Road
    • Hampton Court Way including the service roads running on the East side of the road.
    • Thistledene
  • If you park on the local roads (particularly residential roads) Please make sure you park sensibly. Do not block driveways, park too close to junctions or on pavements.
  • Make sure you arrive in plenty of time to park and make your way to the start. If you feel under time pressure you are more likely to make a bad judgement call.

We do not offer recommendations on parking in any particular roads, but generally there are some areas which my be good for you. As a rule it is better to park 10-15 minutes walk away where it is less disruptive than to jam up local streets in the vicinity of the race. If you have a smartphone it will be easy to plot a route to the start from wherever you park.

Areas where you may find on road spaces:

– West of Hampton Court Way on roads South of Embercourt Road running down to Esher Station (although worth checking the station car park first).

— Roads NE of the Portsmouth Road, particularly slightly North of Giggs Hill Green (Thorkhill Road leading up to Ewell Road, Ditton Hill Road, Windmill Lane etc.)
